Pipeline Integrity Monitoring and Leak Detection Dashboard

We developed an integrity monitoring platform combining SCADA pressure and flow data, inspection results and GIS. Control room and integrity teams share one view of pipeline health and alarms.

Pipeline Integrity Monitoring and Leak Detection Dashboard

Challenge

Aligning SCADA time series, inspection data and GIS spatial references. A common linear referencing model (chainage) tied every data point to a pipeline location.

Approach

The platform ingests SCADA data from RTUs along the pipeline, results from in-line inspection runs, cathodic protection readings and corrosion coupon data. A GIS-based map shows segments, risk rankings and open anomalies. Mass-balance and pressure-wave analytics support leak detection alongside the existing computational pipeline monitoring system. Integrity engineers manage anomaly assessment and repair workflows, and reporting templates support regulatory submissions.

Outcome

Single view of pipeline integrity across operations and engineering Faster alarm investigation with context from inspections and GIS Better prioritisation of inspection and repair spend Illustratively ~25–40% less time preparing integrity and regulatory reports Reduced dependence on individual experts' knowledge

✓Single view of pipeline integrity across operations and engineering
✓Faster alarm investigation with context from inspections and GIS
✓Better prioritisation of inspection and repair spend

Problem solved

Integrity data sat in separate tools and reports, making risk-based inspection planning slow and alarm investigations dependent on a few experts.
