Cloud WMS and Shipment Visibility for a 3PL Network
Challenge
Supporting very different client processes (B2B pallets, ecommerce eaches, returns) in one system. A configuration-driven workflow model and per-client templates avoided custom code for each customer.
Approach
The WMS supports inbound receiving with ASN, putaway rules, wave and zone picking, packing and dispatch, with handheld scanner apps for floor staff. Each client has configurable SLAs, billing rules and integrations (APIs, EDI, marketplace and ERP connectors). Shipment events from multiple carriers are normalised into a common tracking model with milestone alerts. A client portal shows stock, orders, SLA performance and invoices, and a billing engine calculates storage and handling charges automatically.
Outcome
Illustratively ~20–35% improvement in picking productivity Real-time stock and shipment visibility for clients Faster onboarding of new 3PL customers through templates Accurate, automated billing reducing revenue leakage Fewer status calls through self-service portal and alerts
